We are a go for a grand feast and ball at Ashton. The Baron approves as does plot. So brain storming:
1. Anyone else want to coregraph a very simple dance to teach people?
2. Anyone want to volunteer some good period dance music? I am going to make a couple of mixed CD's
3. Anyone want to perform during dinner?
4. Decorations?
5. What kind of pagentry would people like to see? Anyone like a masque? Maybe have a winter king or let the Baron pass out boons?
6. Any votes on food?
7. What else would people like to see?

I don't know if you want ME to teach anyone anything that has to do with dancing, but anything else you need me to do, just let me know.

I have some great ideas about music. Some that we have already talked about.

Decorations...hmmmm..we need a theme. Winter Magic? Arctic Ashton? Wintry Dreams? But I'm thinking "ice" blue and silver would be beautiful!

I thought about a masque ball when we first talked about this, but now I'm thinking not. If it was a bigger participation and we didn't already dress up in costumes anyway, then maybe. I do think there should be some sort of recognitions or rewards or something.

Food would be great if we could get all period food, but I don't know how tough that would be. I could come up with some period recipes (a close friend use to be the feastocrat at SCA events) if you want and I could bring something, but with all the traveling we do and as loaded as the truck already is with bringing four people, it would be hard for me to bring much more than one or dishes.

Plot was talking about games and contests... and I love the idea of blues and silvers as the theme. We need lots of icicles and christmas lights to string everywhere and maybe some silver and blue garland.
As for food I think side dishes and deserts would be great but lets get the main courses catered from somewhere so no one has to make it. More primping time. We can banish the boys from the house for a while and send them off to fight trolls or something. ;-)
Do you think the house could sponsor some prizes? Plot do you think we could get something like that? I'll look into some games as well.

Oh, and is this going to be in the lower tavern? Is that enough room? But yet, I don't know where else to have it. Too bad we don't use the upper tavern any longer. It's big enough yet cold and I know they don't rent it any more due to cost. But still, that large wooden floor would have been perfect for dancing!

We played some awesome games before at a Pirates BBQ we held at my house last summer with my wenches guild. But for the life of me, I'm drawing a blank. I'll send word out to my wenchy sisters and see what I can come up with.

this all sounds grate. but what about live music. i have been playing piano for most of my life and can play most brass instruments. if somebody could get me some music i can probably play it. please send me anything even just a name of some music to mjgraham@siscom.net

i also work at the Cheesecake Factory so i have desert covered. so i'm going to have to know how many people are going to be there.

yumm cheesecake! And yay piano... lol I'd bring my piano down (it's a student missing the top and bottom octives but by the time we moved it it would really sound like crap. My hope is for live music at the feast (see my IG post on the boards) and the CD's for afterwards because I want to do some dances.
