Or in my case the truck rental company.
The move started out in chaos and thanks to wonderful minion assistance (:-D I got to have minions!) resolved itself in order. The plan was to pick up the truck at 9 am... Josh (Badger) showed up right on time to pick me up and we were at the rental place (after driving past it once) by 9:10. And they weren't open. They weren't opening till noon. Screaming rage to Uhaul since I placed my pick up time at 9 am and had it CONFIRMED to me. Gar! Came home and made frantic phone calls to the moving crew and let them know the reschedule time, then careened Badger (it's easier then explaining the myriad of Josh's I know) towards steak 'n shake for some much needed blood sugar. Food good, Uhaul bad.
Round 2 with Uhaul began at 12:04 and we made it to my mothers house before 1. Huzah! Badger and I proved the piano was not of the insanely heavy variety by moving it to the middle of the living room and then the Steve's (my brothers both biological and 'Nise adopted) showed up and Sam and his friend Brad who earned my eternal devotion by bringing lifting straps. The piano was lifted and went beautifully out the door. And then I realized, I wanted a tiny truck because I was the one driving it. I got such a tiny truck it had no ramp. The 5 guys (and me) heaved and my beautiful piano made it safely into the truck along with a very blue chair. Next we hit my place and loaded bookshelves... and book shelves... and more bookshelves. I have 6 plus the built ins... I achieved my dream, I live in a library. The couch was made more exciting by finding a wolf spider clinging to the back. I bravely retreated, ick. Brad organized the entire truck.... it was fabulous. We ended up getting all of my boxes and the couch and shelves on the first trip. We caravanned over unloaded. At this point it was about 4 pm and the Steve's left (the biological brother had a German exam). Back to the apartment and the panicky cats (Max hid under the bed all day). We loaded the last of the furniture picked up the bed (and it is such a wonderful bed! I am in awe at the generosity of my friend) and headed out to get the last bit out of the truck. My luck lapsed a little at that point, it was raining but the piano was safe and that was the important part. My living room is a mess, all my boxes are in the utility room, I didn't get the kitchen packed so I have no dishes and I have more furniture to move around... but I think I am moved.
Had a scare later in the day... We got both cats to the apartment (kudos to Badger my kitty wrangler, Blair even stayed in the carrier!) Max immediately hid once we got there while Blair just got underfoot and was a general pain. I ran out to get Badger back to his car and Max was gone. Much frantic looking ensued as I was sure he hadn't gotten outside. I was half convinced my apartment ate cats, then of course I found him buried in a pile of boots in my closet. They are settling in better now, a little more cuddly then usual but Blair slept with me and woke me up before the alarm and Max was wandering around and getting into things this morning. I left them with the bedroom window blinds up so they can whine at the birds.
Today is going to be more packing and unpacking.... I figure I'll just pack up everything at the old place so I can sort my stuff out and it will help Wombat Josh out since he works so much. I've pretty much decided against Argo this weekend. I don't want to leave the cats to long, I have too much unpacking and cleaning to do and I hoping to meet with a new musician friend from Marcon for coffee on Sunday at some point.

My other big news from the weekend was Matty graduated! Hooray for him. He hosted a well attended party on Saturday and I spent far to much time there catching up with people I had not seen in ten years of so. The graduation was long and hot, I'm a little sun fried still but I caught up with an old class mate and was wrangled into coming back for homecoming's alumni band. At least cymbals are a good upper body workout. The commencement speaker needed to go though. He was long and rambly and monotone. Blarg. I got pics and will be posting them soon so everyone can see Hooper, Matty and Cameron all grown up. :-P only get a few chances like this to embarrass your younger sibs.

Blah, again, if you need to get a hold of me either call my old number and Josh will pass the message along or email... I may be on AIM some evenings right now while I am packing.

Sorry I couldn't help out. Work decided to change my schedule on me making me work Sundays now. On the plus side I have Saturdays off in exchange. On the down side I only get one day off this week while they shift the schedule to the new one.

Anyway, welcome to my side of town. If you want to know any good restaraunts you should try lemme know. I would avoid Asian Temptations unless you like spicy stuff though. Good food but oh god hot.
