Screaming rage at all rental companies! First I went and signed my lease today... Now mind you I was told I could move in last week... didn't happen. But to day was the big day, paid my rent, got my keys... and found a mess! The tub was revolting, the kitchen sink had obviously been used by the contracters and never cleaned. There was dust everywhere and a fermented thing of juice in the fridge... which also was revolting.

They are supposed to haveing a cleaning crew in tomorrow. And they are supposed to call me in the mornign to tell me when it has been cleaned. But until then gar!

Make them give you a discount on next month's rent, esp as you were told you could move in a week ago.

What she said - I'd pro-rate your rent (monthly rent/30) and only pay for the days you are able to USE the apartment.

well May was already free... but they are giving me extra money off now for june, july and august, and it's going to be cleaned by tonight so I'm feeling a bit better about it.

good to hear they're giving you a deal on your rent to make up for it. They should have had that taken care of. Hope things go smoothly after this.

What a let down! That really sucks. I have never had to dfeal with a situation like that. The last two apartements I moved into were pretty well clean before I moved in... No, I take that back. When I moved into the apartment I lived in for 5 years the sink was kind of clogged and the garbage disposal wouldn't work. The bad thing was that I didn't notice that until I was already moving stuff into the space.

At least in this case they are going to take carte of it before you move in.

Don't worry about it. You will move in and everything will be fine.
