Tech help please!!!!

Something goofed in Firefox today and I came home to find my carefully horded and semi orginized selection of bookmarks have disapeared....
Josh said he was prompted to sign as a different user...however I have never seen that prompt and can't find a reference to it in the help section... Any idea why all our saved info would dissapear like that?

My John says:
1. Profile could have been deleted
2. (More likely) Firefox crashed but is still running in the background. The process still might be running. This just happened to him the other day -- he was prompted to create a new profile. Restarting MIGHT help with #2, or you can go to Task Manager (Ctrl Alt Delete) and read through the process tabs looking for Firefox.

blah, no dice, I checked and nothing was running in task manager, and restarting didn't work.....I have a feeling I'll be spending the next several days fixing this.... oh well. Thank you very much for your help. I think I'm going to exorcise my computer at some point to make sure this doesn't happen again. ;)
