Into the home stretch......
Feb. 10th, 2005 05:58 pmEverything is ending...in two days I won;t work for Valvoline anymore (thank you bright lady!), My class ended last night (though I have a bit of work to turn back in), Sam is moving out,(Yea space!) and the tudor gown is in the home stretch!
I have bittersweet feelings about leaving but the new manager is sweet and the crew is doing well with her.
The bodice on the dress is done except for the guard at the top. That will be almost the last step though. Right now I amd assembling the sleeves and adding their trim so there are no raw edges. I'm also getting the skirt trimmed. I have added all the guards and hemmed it in one great hand sewing session at gamming last Sunday. The plan is to finish the skirt trim today. Then I can relax about the amount of trim that I have. Then finish the sleeve seams and add the gussets under the arms. After that I need to whip them to the bodice and cut the bias bits that I am going to edge the neck with. I add those and trim trim trim. I'm thinking gold clunny lace with pearls and emerald chips added in. And garnets. Then I pleat the skirt and attach it to the boddice and it's done! The onto accessories. I need the undersleeves, a new chemise, and a petticoat with forepart. The plan is a neat geometric upholstry brocade in gold, burgandy and green for the forepart, and a shot gold and red for the under sleeves. I need to see how much I have though. I'm surprised how easily this is coming together though. Soemthing has to go wrong right about now.....
