This just in....

Broke 14K... it's creaping along... and I should finish chapter 7 soon. Of course this is YA and the chapters are short. In proper manuscript format 26 pages of sardonic superhero goodness.

The Raven icon is only to continue the super hero theme... and ya gotta love Raven. :-)

Is there a webpage that lists stats on various genres; word count, chapter length, etc? I'm curious.

Not really, the info is out there but it is always changing. About 20 years ago 60-80K was a REALLLY long novel. (Tolkien was hugly over norm for the time). Then in the 90's long fantasy became the in thing and word processors made it easier to create and edit it. Word counts jumped up to 100K, 150K, and rarely 200K (though that legnth tends to make editors wince). It's back peddling now a little bit.
It depends on what you are writing, who you are writing for, and what the publisher is looking for. 80-100 tends to be normal for adult books but there are exceptions in both directions. Try googling the genre you are writing in and you should come up with some info. Or try the Miss Snark archives.

What does the very tiny text say on your icon? All I can read is "pretend we know no regrets." What's that from?

I'll have to look at the ever so slightly version on my computer at home, but I think it's from the Trigon story arc from the animated series. :-)
