all my musical friends... I am looking for a Ren period sounding song of love. Prefereably something minor or sad sounding. Lost love is fine. Anyone have any favorites?
The Willow song, Desdemona sings snippets of it in Othello. Shakespeare gave her feminised lyrics (so the poor soul is a woman not aman) but most people sing it as a man, which is silly really if we have proof of it being changed to a song for a woman at the time... http://sniff.numachi.com/pages/tiWILLOSNG;ttWILLOSNG.html
Maid in Bedlam; Track # 11 on "Where Beauty Moves and Wit Delights" released by Owain Fyfe and the New World Renaissance Band.
To young lovers, torn apart by his parents sending him to sea. They then lock her up in Bedlam where she pines, and pines for him to come home. She wasn't loony when she went in, (but she gets kind of loony while in there) and she is determined that he will come back for her. He does come back, and rescues her from Bedlam. Love conquers all!
