Let me premis this by saying I do not have a neat house. Now that school is out, I'm not working upteen hours a week and not car shopping, I'm working on correcting that.

My two black hair deamons of cats decided that they hadn't explored enough. They braved under the bed. Now our bed is set into a corner right now and the two exposed sides have the plastic under the bed boxes hemming them in. I didn't think it was possible to get under our bed, of course I am not a cat.
Max made the first foray last night and Blair joined him for a few mintutes of rustling. They emerged unscathed, proving we don't really have a under the bed monster. I worried but both cats emerged after less then an hour.
Tonight Max explored again. I was watching CSI (the good version) when I heard scratching. When it continued I followed the source to the edge of the bed. Max had somehow got himself in the box spring. This lead to much frantic scrambling. Kittens do not belong in matresses. In an attempt to move him towards the hole in the lining I picked up the matresses. Max proceeded to mosey along exploring all aspects of the boxspring except the entrence. My arms started to get tired, but I was stuck. Max had put himself in a place where if I let the matress down he would get squashed. Squished kitty bad. I cajolled, waggled the matress and boxspring up and down and prayed he'd move soon.
Eventually he made his way out and I attempted to block acess to the bed further with heavy books and a plastic box lid. Evidently it wasn't enough. Max got back in the lining again. At this point I said screw it grabbed the sissors and made an opening big enough for him to get out near the edge and went back to CSI. (Yes I know I should have done that the first time but I was hoping not to kill the mattress). Eventually Max goes out and all is happy again.
Max is our shy cat. Not surprisingly Blair decided max couldn't have all the fun or attention. Blair climbed up into the box spring. A fact I realized after he tried to claw his way out of the side of it.
I striped the bed wrestled the queen size matress of the box spring and was about to move the spring up to retreive said cat when he pops out from underneath the bed and proceeds to saunter out of the room.

They sound toxically cute. But just give up on anything that has a hole. My grandmother had several cats. One climbed into the furnace during the summer. The other climbed up into the drop cieling. Had to board up a hole in the basement to stop it.

Then there was June, one of my cats. She crawled into a sleeping bag with me during a sleep over. In the process of climbing out she missed the exit and climbed up my shirt and into my sleeve instead. She was too large to get out of my sleeve, but was determined that that was the way she wanted to go and I spent a half hour pinned to the floor by my arm until we figured out how to get her to turn around without me stripping. Cats are evil! That's what makes them great!
