My weekend was....
May. 22nd, 2006 12:31 pmAn odd weekend.... Josh ended up having the whole weekend off. I spent Saturday hanging out with my "little brother" Shin and talking about what computer I want to get. Between that and a heck of a lot of other people who were graciously willing to listen to my whining and give me a much needed kick in the tush ( special thanks to Worlddancer) I'm actually entering this week feeling a lot better.
The stress at home has been telling though. Blair was acting odd all day Sunday. He was crying a lot, spending a lot of time cuddled up under my chin, hunched over and acting like he was in pain and a lot of trying to pee in the litter box and not being successful. I lost my last cat to a urinary blockage so when it became obvious that the symptoms were getting worse and Blair refused to play I bundled him up and Josh and I took him to the vet. The car ride was memorable. Blair has a bad habit of getting out of his carrier so we didn't bother putting him in on the ride over. He spent the first part crouched on my lap... which was memorable since I was the one driving. then he moved to Josh and climbed on his shoulder and clung to the head rest alternating panting and mewling piteously. Unfortunately as I was going 65+ on 270 I wasn't appreciating this. Just as we got off the highway Josh got him calmed down and in his lap. The hospital took him in right away and about 20 minutes later moved us to an exam room to wait. And wait, and wait... I would like to say I stayed calm cool and collected this entire time. But I didn't. I kept flashing back to when we got the call from Friendly's foster parents that he had to be put down. Everything that happened that night is still very clear in my head... and I was the one who made the decision that Friendly had to be put down... so the waiting with no word kept bringing all of that back in my head. Finally about 10:30 the vet came in and talked with us. Blair wasn't blocked but his bladder was inflamed. The vet thought it was at least partially to do with the move, and breaking up. The good news is so far Blair seems to be fine. He's not in as much pain right now and as long as Max leaves him alone ( Max has been running away from him and hissing alot) then he should be fine. I'm watching him closely and he's getting a lot of extra love as well as drugs. I expect a very sleepy kitty for the next few days.
Other then that I need more boxes to finish up the last of my stuff. I am hoping the apartment complex will call me tomorrow about when to come over and sign the lease. (Crossing finger's) Once I have the place I and going to start taking a car load over every night after work and unpacking the boxes before hand... Hopefully I can have it down to clothing, toiletries, kitchenstuff, and furniture by moving date. It looks like that will be 6/4 right now, probably starting about 9-10ish at my Mom's with the piano and moving to Dublin and finishing in Hilliard. Meh back to the phones.
