rest and cats....
Apr. 24th, 2005 01:51 amToday I did very little, I worked on sewing projects and watched movies, and read books while playing mattress for a very sleepy silly kitty. Bliar curled up with me for about 3 hours while I finished "the Forest Daughter" which was nice if sometimes laborous. More cross stitching on my dragon though I think I made a mistake which may entail tearing teh stitches out again....oh well.
I tried on my Tudor bodice with the sleeves attached last week. There are issues. I used lacing rings and then make the ends noy quite meet. I'm planning hooks and eyes to correct that. The sleeves won't stay up, I have deterined that is because the back is too low. I'm piecing about 2 inches more to the back. Once that is done I'll try it again.... it's non wrinkly though which is to the good. My farthingale is finnaly nearly done. I need to add another boning channel at the hem though....the last layer wants to curl up on itself. My cats had fun as I worked on this. One or both crept in under the chair which was propping up my dummy, and tried to attack my hand as I shaped the wires. Sigh. Currently Blair has decided the pile of fabric and bodice is his to sleep on...must remember to remove that to the sewing room before I crash.
My hope right now is that raising the bodice back will solve all my fiting issues with out limiting all my arm movement.
I dug into my stash and found a white corderoy to make a kirtle or skirt out of, must measure tomorrow. It will probably just be a skirt as I'm thinking of wearing this on a May day.
Current to do list:
Fix Bodice back
bead and aplique the neackline and apply the bais tape.
Make underskirt and baste forepart to it
Make a new smock
sew the undersleeves and bead them
Create the french hood and bead it
Deadline May 7th....Possibly doable...otherwise I could probably whip off the florentine overdress pretty quickly...I just need to find the bodice pattern
