open letter
Mar. 31st, 2005 06:37 pmTo all:
In light of the events of the last few weeks, allow me to make something crystalline clear. If ever I am in persistent vegetative state with no hope of recovery, let me die. Flesh is transitory, I will be back. Can’t let go? That is not my problem. If my soul is tied to my body then keeping me alive trapped in that prison is unconscionable. If it is not, then do not waste you time on a meaningless shell. I will not be there.
If you do not agree, make your own will. Ask your loved ones to support your husk for years, and pay homage to an empty shrine. I would rather the grief be heartfelt, honorable and have an end. Such scattered mourning and cobweb of hope that artificial support can provide is merely a delaying tactic.
I do not ask you to agree, I do not care. Make your own choice. Mine should be perfectly clear.
Love
