outlining....
Nov. 9th, 2004 06:47 amI've realived that as a writer, I have a realy hard time planning my stories and keeping to task with writing so much per day. So I sought help. I've teamed up with one of my oldest and dearest freinds and we are co writing stories together. We started with one of my ideas and are outlining, world building etc etc. Brian is very good about helping me reach my conclusion. I know my hero is going to do this but why and how he or she gets there, I am to often lost on how to get the there that isn't trite or filled with deus ex machina.
So last night we spent over 2 hours just plotting. we outlined characters, motivations for them, major plot occurances, incidental scenes that build characters, etc. We have a working outline for the first third of the story...at least I think it's the first third. Overall it is going well and tonight I am going to sit down and actually start on pages. They will be sketchy, probably need some serious help in tightening the writing and will probably change a lot before it is done, but, it will be a begining.
Once we finish outlining how my story idea is going to go then we are going to start on one of his. I'm not sure what kind of format it will take but it should be interesting. I foresee good thing coming from this.
