whooohoooo I dyed!
Apr. 17th, 2004 10:19 pmI just did my first dye bath and hopefully it went well! I have been trying to find a good cotton (or mostly cotton) brocade now for forever. Something golden colored with a smallish design so I use it as gaurds in the Cranache gown I have been drooling over. I got a bit of the shot silk today as well and I am hoping the brocade comes out a similar color. I have to wash the linen for the chemise and let the brocade dry and then I can have at it. :)
I figure on making the dress with out the placket and just the dress, breast band and chemise. I think I am going to inset lacing rings of a sort in the dress to lace the breast band tight. I may use some jute cord to stiffen the edges of the dress and for the sleeves but I think the secret to the breast shape is in fitting the band and using some layers in it. Pobably I'll use my peachy linen. I am definatly going to have to dye more often now.
